About our Rates

 
Full-day rates include lunch, bottled water, and snacks
 
Deluxe camping rates include meals, sleeping bags, air mattresses, and tents.
 
All rates are per person, do not include tax, and are subject to change without notice.  Fuel surcharge is $0.50 per mile - this will be collected the day of the ride.
 
Tips are not expected but always welcome.  Gratuities support our junior trail guides who frequently help out on rides.
 
Reservations are required for all services.
 
If you would like to use your own horses, and would like me to haul them for you, the charge is $2 per mile.

Here are some of the horseback riding adventures offered by Show-Me Trail Ride Outfitter.  Whether you are looking for an afternoon ride or few days outdoors, we can find the perfect package for you!

Show-Me Trail Ride Outfitter is proud to be a part of the team at Big River Ranch! We offer year-round trail rides along the scenic Missouri River, in Lexington, Missouri.  Check out Big River Rides for more details!

*Note:  a minimum of two riders are required for most trail rides/campouts.  If you would like to book one of our activities for an individual, please email Jeff to check for availability.  We can take your contact information, and we can schedule you in at a group rate once we get several individuals.

Big River Ranch Rides: 

Show-Me Trail offers rides year-round from this location in Lexington, Missouri.  Big River Ranch has over 25 miles of cut trails through scenic terrain and along the Missouri River!  Due to overwhelming demand for rides at this location, we now offer shorter 1-hour and 2-hour guided trail rides at this destination.

Afternoon Outing: 

The Afternoon Outing consists of a 3-hour scenic trail ride at the trail location of your choice.  This is the perfect option for the beginning rider, or in preparation for our all-day excursion package.  Bottle water is provided.

All-Day Excursion: 

We have found that it takes more than a few hours to explore many of the beautiful places that can be found along Missouri’s equestrian trails.  Choose to spend the day with us and our horses, and enjoy viewing wildlife such as whitetail deer, coyotes, foxes, red-tailed hawks, wild turkeys and even an occasional bald eagle (especially on the Berry Bend trail, in Warsaw).   Lunch, bottled water, and snacks are provided.

Horsemanship 101 - Course & Ride Combo: 

If you've ever thought about owning your own horse or are interested in learning more than the lessons your horse will give you on the ride, this course may be for you!  We will start the day with a 3-hour crash course on the basics of horsemanship.  You will learn important parts of the horse's body, parts of the saddle, how to dress your horse to ride, basic horse grooming and healthcare, and some basic do's and don'ts.  Then we will put you in the saddle and show you some basic riding techniques in the round pen.  You will learn how to properly mount and dismount the horse, and some basic horse handling, such as how to lead a horse.  You will learn some basic riding techniques such as asking the horse to start and stop, and maintaining control at the walk, trot, and canter.  You will be closely supervised the entire time you are in the round pen.  After you have some basic riding skills and have some confidence, we will turn you loose in the arena for as long as it takes you to find your comfort zone.  We will then embark on a 3-hour trail ride where you can put your new skills into practice.  Lunch, bottled water, and snacks are provided.

Trail Guide Service - with your own horses: 

Ready to get out and explore with your own horse, but need a little help "learning the ropes"?  This is a service for folks that have their own horses but need help finding their way around the first time.  We would be happy to:
  • guide you through different trails and show you around
  • look over your stock and help get the bugs out
  • get some advice on fixing problems
 
Book an outing with your own horse (guide service only) for 30$ per hr. Additional guides (helpers for safety) for $20 per hr.  You may bring as many horses as you like.

Multiple-Day Getaway: 

If you’re seeking more fun that one day will hold, e-mail us about our multiple-day getaway options.  We can customize the perfect vacation for couples or small groups based on your desires, destination choice, and level of riding experience.  It will be up to you to arrange lodging at a nearby motel, or bring your own camper if you wish.

Multiple-Day Campouts: 

Get a real taste of the great outdoors by camping out with your horse in Missouri's parklands.  Most parks are located away from city lights where star-viewing is endless.  You won't want to miss it!

We will set up a base camp and provide tents, air mattresses, sleeping bags, fans (when needed), and all meals.  Each day we will ride a different trail.  You will be taught basic horse care techniques, and may be asked to assist as needed.  You may choose to learn to saddle your own horse if you wish.

Meals will be prepared at the campsite with a Dutch oven and served around a campfire.  Menu items will include:  bacon, pancakes, eggs, biscuits & gravy, beef stew, chicken & rice, and more.

This is a true western experience you will remember for years to come!
