About Comprehensive Training:

Training a horse takes time – usually about 3 months, depending on the horse. Owners are welcome to come out anytime to visit their horse, however NO children will be allowed on the premisis for safety reasons. Near the end of training, Jeff encourages the owner to come out and ride one of his horses as he rides their horse so that they can observe the horse on the trail or out and about.

Jeff also offers riding lessons with owners so that they are ready to ride a freshly trained horse. The fee for this will be $25 an hour.

An outline of exactly what goes on during that training time can be found HERE.

About Spring Tune-up:

Even the best horse forgets its manners after a long winter of inactivity. If it’s been a while since your horse has been ridden and you’d like to get the spring “squirreliness” worked out, we offer a 30-day tune-up to get your horse trail ready. This is NOT full training, and NOT intended to turn a green-broke horse into a finished horse. If that is what you need, please consider Comprehensive Training.

What are you paying for?

Too often, when folks go out and buy a horse, they look at the price tag as though it were a ‘finished product’. Every horse is different and the value of a horse is not in its size, looks, or even pedigree – the value is in its training. No horse is a bargain, if it can’t be handled safely!
The price of horse training is a bargain, if you consider the considerable amount of time involved. Let’ break it down:

  • First off, it costs about $100 per month in hay, feed, and pasture wear-and-tear to keep a horse.
  • Jeff works with the horse in training a minimum 2 hrs a day; so with 60 hours a 30 day period, that figures to about $6.60 an hour.
  • Any days of training missed for weather or other circumstances will be added on at the end of training for no extra cost to ensure your horse will get a full 30 days for your money!

Not all horses are the same and so Jeff does different things with different horses to achieve the same result. The most important thing is: it takes time and patience to get the kind of horse that you want for your own!
